Canine Comfort

Kelly, BCAC's comfort companion, helps calm young visitors to the Baltimore Child Abuse Center and the courthouse.

Kelly is the latest addition to BCAC's staff, a specially trained service dog who comforts children during the interview process at the center. Kelly was given to BCAC and the State Attorney's Office (he will be working the courthouse with crime victims as well) by Canine Companions for Independence in February. In the short time since, he's become the most popular personality here.

In March, Kelly appeared in the Daily Record-the feature of an article about the use of dogs in courtrooms to comfort crime victims through the experience of testifying. (Click here to view the article). Their photographer documented "A Day in the Life of Kelly," a short video following one of Kelly's busy days that appeared on the Record's website. Check out the media, and keep an eye out for Kelly at BCAC events!
