Many of the children we help at BCAC are in transition and through no fault of their own are no longer in their homes. Some have witnessed the murder of a parent. Others have been moved out of an abusive household or one that cannot properly care for them and in 2015, we began offering medical examinations to children entering the foster system. Whatever the scenario that has brought these children to our doors, we want to do all we can to help them.
Can you imagine the trauma that these kids have seen in their short lives? They range in age from only six months to 17 years old, and a full third of them are under the age of three. Not only are they leaving their homes, but many of them are leaving with nothing but the clothes on their backs and maybe a bag of personal belongings. That’s why, in 2016, we’re launching a new initiative called Project ARK (Awesome and Ready Kids). These kids are awesome! Many have survived tremendous obstacles already in their lives, and we want to make sure they’re ready to transition into their new homes the best we can.
We need you to make that happen. We’re in need of blankets, pajamas, diapers, toiletries, other comfort items, backpacks, and more for children of all ages.
